What is CalculatedAg.com?
CalculatedAg.com is a simple tool built for farmers, ranchers, and landowners who want to make smarter decisions without dealing with complicated equations. It offers a set of easy-to-use calculators to help with everyday farm planning.
You can estimate crop yields based on acres and expected results, figure out how much fertilizer to buy, calculate seeding rates for more efficient planting, manage grazing with pasture stocking tools, and convert units like acres, bushels, and pounds in seconds.

My name is Gavin Koontz. As a child, I was raised on the farm. Even at such a young age, I owned and raised cattle and even ran equipment. At twelve years old, I was the person who no-tilled all of our soybean crop. Outside of my farm experience, I always had a passion for computers and technology. In 7th grade, I started teaching myself how to code, and through high school, I was making small apps and websites. Although I hadn't planned to, I decided to go to college. I am now graduating with an associate's degree in Web Design and waiting to start my bachelor's program.
The Story of CalculatedAg
Something that my grandfather and I enjoy doing every year is estimating crop yield; more
specifically, corn yield. This is something that takes little time and is pretty simple, but we
always forget the correct variables and formulas to use for this process. To find the formula, we
have to search the web and always double-check that we have all the correct numbers. Something so
simple becomes a chore (especially if we check multiple locations as recommended.)
Late last year,
December of 2024, I decided that I would put my skills to work. I started this side project, “Calculated
Ag,” as a simple tool I could use to calculate crop yield. I didn't originally plan for it to do
more than just that; calculate corn yield.
Moving into my last semester of college, I had to document and
submit a project. I thought, “Why not expand my side project?” I then began taking Calculated Ag
seriously and expanded it more than just corn yield; I added more crop calculators and other
applications that farmers can use to ease the experience of using math in the field. I have now sunk
over a hundred hours into this project and plan to continue expanding.
